Description
Indications
Used along with electrolyte and fluid replacement for symptomatic relief of acute and chronic diarrhea. Helps control symptoms of diarrhea associated with bowel disorders.
Dosage
ADULTS & CHILDREN above 12 yrs. old:
Usual dose of 1-6 tablets per day
(Acute diarrhea) Take 1-2 tablets initially, followed by 1 tablet after each loose or watery stool.
(Chronic diarrhea) Take 1-2 tablets initially. Adjust dose until 1-2 solid stools per day are obtained. Maximum dose of 6 tablets per day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Storage
Store between 20-25°C.
Precautions
Caution use in patients taking anti-infectives and other medications, and those with severe or persistent diarrhea and liver dysfunction. Not recommended for use in children below 12 yrs old.
Side Effects
Dry mouth, abdominal pain, distention or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, dyspepsia, and constipation. Rarely, drowsiness or dizziness and urinary retention.
Contraindications
This product should not be taken by:
- Individuals with allergy to loperamide or any of its ingredients
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Constipated patients and also in people who should avoid constipation
- Patients with acute dysentery and active ulcerative colitis.
