Indications/Uses
This medicine is used to treat occasional constipation. It is also used to promote stool evacuation when oral laxatives are ineffective or could not be administered.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Glycerol Suppositories are for rectal use only. Never take rectal suppositories by mouth. (See table.)
Do not use more than 1 suppository per day.
Do not use for longer than 1 week unless directed by the doctor.
Prolonged use can lead to laxative dependence.
Or, as directed by a doctor.
Directions for Use: 1. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after using the rectal suppository.
2. Gently insert one suppository well into the rectum (about 1 inch).
3. Retain suppository for 5 to 15 minutes. Bowel movement generally occurs in 15-60 minutes. Suppository need not to melt to produce laxative action.
Missed Dose: If the patient missed a dose, just take the next dose if still needed for the condition being treated and the subsequent doses at the recommended time or schedule.

If the patient is allergic to Glycerol or any ingredient in the product.
If the patient is suffering from intestinal obstruction or acute abdominal pain.

The patient's symptoms do not improve or get worse.
The patient experiences rectal bleeding or fail to have bowel movement after use of a laxative. These may be signs of a serious condition.
If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Skin irritation or burning around the rectum may occur.
Blood in stools, persistent urge to empty the bowel and persistent diarrhea are very unlikely to occur but should be reported immediately.

Action
These products contain Glycerol, a laxative. Glycerol works by promoting fluid retention in the bowel to keep the stools moist and lubricates the passage of the stool for easy evacuation. Inserted rectally, the suppository can also produce a mild stimulatory effect on the bowel.
