This includes managing acid regurgitation, heartburn, and common indigestion that results from the reflux of stomach contents. Side Effects
GAVISCON Chewable Tablet common side effects include minor gastrointestinal discomfort such as burping, flatulence, or feeling bloated, especially when maximum dosage is taken. Some individuals may experience changes in bowel habits like constipation or, rarely, diarrhea. In exceptionally rare instances, a serious allergic reaction may occur, presenting as skin rash, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat. Prolonged use of high doses may also lead to elevated calcium levels in the blood.
Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults and Kids (12+ years): 2 to 4 tablets taken after meals and at bedtime. Do not exceed 16 tablets in 24 hours.
- Dosage for Kids under 12 years: Not recommended for use without specific guidance.
Maximum treatment duration is 7 days unless continuous use is necessary for symptom management.
Contraindications
The product should be avoided if there is a known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the components. Caution is advised for use by individuals with severe kidney problems or those who have excessively high levels of calcium in their blood. It is also not suitable for people diagnosed with very low or absent stomach acid.
