Indications/Uses
Forte cap: For control of cough associated with colds, allergy and inhalation of irritating substances and psychogenic cough.
Syr: For the relief of coughs associated with common colds, influenza, allergy and other respiratory infections, particularly useful in dry unproductive and paroxysmal cough.

Dosage/Direction for Use
Forte cap: One capsule every four hours or as prescribed by the physician.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule.

Overdosage
Syr: Signs and Symptoms of Overdose: Symptoms of overdose may include: extreme drowsiness, blurred vision, confusion, hallucinations, and slow/shallow breathing seizures.
Management: In case of overdose, contact the doctor or emergency room immediately.

Warnings
Forte cap: Patients with the following health conditions should be careful in taking Phenylpropanolamine HCl: High blood pressure, toxic goiter, benign prostatic hypertrophy, heart rate irregularity, glaucoma, if taking antidepressants.
Patients with heart disease and uncontrolled, untreated high blood pressure should consult the doctor prior to taking Phenylpropanolamine HCl.

Special Precautions
Forte cap: Antihistamines may cause drowsiness and dulling of mental alertness where loss of attention may lead to accidents.
Paracetamol should be given with care to patients with impaired kidney or liver function.
Syr: Dextromethorphan Hydrochloride should be administered with caution to patients with liver disease.
Tell the doctor: What prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products the patient is taking.
If the patient smokes, or if the patient has or has ever had breathing problems such as asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: If the patient is breast-feeding. If the patient becomes pregnant while taking Mucotuss, discuss the risks and benefits with the doctor.

Adverse Reactions
Syr: Rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
Drug Interactions
Syr: Mucotuss should not be used within 14 days of using a MAO inhibitor.

Action
Pharmacology: Syr: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant. Depresses cough reflex through direct effect on cough center in medulla.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. Exert vasoconstrictive action that leads to decreased edema congestion. Also increases respiratory secretions and reduces mucus viscosity.
