Indications / Uses

Loviscol Carbocisteine 500mg is used for reducing mucus viscosity in respiratory conditions such as chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, and COPD. It facilitates expectoration and alleviates productive cough by thinning bronchial secretions. This mucolytic agent also supports airway clearance in post-operative recovery and respiratory tract infections with excessive phlegm production.

Loviscol Carbocisteine 500mg common side effects include: gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Less frequently, skin reactions like rash or itching may occur. Severe adverse effects like gastrointestinal bleeding are rare but require immediate discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (15+ years): 1 capsule (500mg) three times daily. Maximum daily dosage: 1500mg.
• Children 5-14 years: 250mg three times daily. Maximum daily dosage: 750mg.

Not recommended for children below 5 years. Maximum treatment duration: 8-10 days unless otherwise directed.

Contraindications

Do not use with active peptic ulcer disease or history of gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Avoid in patients with phenylketonuria due to aspartame content in some formulations. Contraindicated during acute cystitis or hemoptysis.

Special Precautions

• Monitor for gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with gastric ulcer history
