It facilitates expectoration in productive cough and helps relieve symptoms associated with excessive or thickened mucous secretions in the airways.

Side Effects

Broncocil Carbocisteine 500mg common side effects include: gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Less frequently reported reactions include headache, dizziness, skin rashes, or gastrointestinal bleeding. Discontinue use immediately if severe reactions like significant skin reactions or persistent gastrointestinal symptoms occur.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and Adolescents (15+ years): 1 capsule (500mg) three times daily
• Children 5-12 years: 250mg (½ capsule) three times daily

Maximum daily dosage: 1500mg (3 capsules) for adults. Not recommended for children under 5 years. Treatment duration typically limited to 8-10 days unless otherwise advised.

Contraindications

Avoid use in patients with active peptic ulcer disease or history of gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Do not use if hypersensitivity to mucolytic agents exists.
