This expectorant works by increasing respiratory tract fluid production to reduce mucus viscosity.

Side Effects

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and adolescents (12+ years): 10mL every 4 hours. Maximum: 6 doses in 24 hours

  • Children (2-5 years): 2.5-5mL every 4 hours. Maximum: 4 doses in 24 hours

Not recommended for children under 2 years. Maximum treatment duration: 7 days unless directed otherwise. Use measuring cup for accurate dosing.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to guaifenesin or other ingredients. Avoid with persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, or emphysema, or if cough is accompanied by excessive phlegm.

Special Precautions

  • Avoid use with persistent cough without mucus production
  • Discontinue if cough persists beyond 7 days or recurs
  • Use cautiously with coughs that produce blood
  • Not recommended for chronic respiratory conditions without medical guidance

How should I store it?
