Histamox Diphenhydramine 12.5mg / 5mL Syrup is used for relieving symptoms of seasonal allergies including sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes. It effectively treats skin reactions like hives and rashes caused by allergic reactions. This medication also helps manage occasional sleeplessness by promoting drowsiness.

Histamox Diphenhydramine 12.5mg / 5mL Syrup contains: Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 12.5mg per 5mL + cherry flavoring.

Side Effects

Histamox Diphenhydramine 12.5mg / 5mL Syrup common side effects include: drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, and coordination difficulties. Less frequently reported reactions include nausea, constipation, or blurred vision. Discontinue use immediately if rapid heartbeat or breathing difficulties occur.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults & Adolescents (12+ years): 10-20mL every 4-6 hours. Maximum: 80mL in 24 hours
• Children 6-11 years: 5-10mL every 4-6 hours. Maximum: 40mL in 24 hours
• Children 2-5 years: 2.5-5mL every 4-6 hours. Maximum: 20mL in 24 hours

Not recommended for children under 2 years. Maximum treatment duration: 7 days unless directed otherwise.

Contraindications

Do not use with narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, or severe respiratory conditions. Avoid in patients taking MAO inhibitors or with known hypersensitivity to antihistamines.

Special Precautions

• Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants
• Use caution when driving or operating machinery
• Monitor for dizziness in elderly patients

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May interact with sedatives, alcohol, or antidepressants causing increased drowsiness. Avoid concurrent use with other antihistamines.
