Indications / Uses

EOCET Cetirizine 10mg is used for symptomatic relief of allergic conditions including seasonal/perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. It effectively manages sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin reactions like hives and itching caused by allergies.

Side Effects

EOCET Cetirizine 10mg common side effects include: drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal discomfort like abdominal pain or nausea. Less frequently, it may cause paradoxical reactions such as restlessness or agitation. Severe reactions like hypersensitivity are rare.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults & Adolescents (12+ years): 10mg (1 tablet) once daily. Maximum: 10mg/24 hours.
• Children (6-11 years): 5mg twice daily (every 12 hours). Maximum: 10mg/24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 6 years. Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration needed.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or piperazine derivatives. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min).

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Avoid during pregnancy unless necessary. Not recommended while breastfeeding due to excretion in milk.

Special Precautions

• Reduce dose in hepatic/renal impairment (CrCl 30-49 mL/min: 5mg daily; CrCl <30 mL/min: contraindicated).
• May cause drowsiness: avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Monitor for CNS effects like agitation or seizures in predisposed individuals.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Avoid with CNS depressants (e.g., alcohol, sedatives) due to additive drowsiness. No significant interactions with erythromycin or ketoconazole.

Store below 30°C in a dry place. Keep the container tightly closed and protect from light.
