Indications / Uses

CETIREX Cetirizine Syrup for Kids is used for treating allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes/nose, and hives. It effectively manages seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in children. This syrup also provides relief from chronic idiopathic urticaria and allergic conjunctivitis symptoms.

Formulation / Ingredients
CETIREX Cetirizine Syrup for Kids contains: Cetirizine dihydrochloride 5 mg per 5 mL + syrup base (glycerin, sorbitol, sodium citrate) + flavoring agents.

Side Effects

CETIREX Cetirizine Syrup for Kids common side effects include drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, sore throat, and stomach discomfort. Less frequently, agitation or fatigue may occur. Serious reactions like breathing difficulties, severe skin reactions, or swelling require immediate attention.

Directions and Dosage

• Children 2-6 years: 2.5 mg (2.5 mL) once daily. Maximum: 5 mg/day (may be given as 2.5 mL twice daily).
• Children 6-12 years: 5 mg (5 mL) once daily. Maximum: 10 mg/day (as 5 mL twice daily).
• Adolescents 12+ years and Adults: 10 mg (10 mL) once daily. Maximum: 10 mg/24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision. Administer using the measuring cup provided. Duration depends on symptom control.

Contraindications

Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <10 mL/min). Hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any piperazine derivatives.

Special Precautions

• Dosage adjustment necessary for moderate renal impairment
• May cause drowsiness - use caution during activities requiring alertness
• Monitor for urinary retention in susceptible individuals

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May enhance drowsiness when combined with CNS depressants. Potential interaction with theophylline. Avoid alcohol during treatment.

How should I store it?

Store below 30°C in original container. Keep tightly closed and protect from light. Do not freeze. Discard 6 months after opening.
