Description

Indications / Uses

Hydrite Sachet is used for replacing fluids and electrolytes lost during dehydration caused by acute diarrhea or vomiting. It helps restore electrolyte balance and prevent dehydration in patients of all ages, including infants, children, and adults. The banana-flavored formulation improves palatability, especially for pediatric use during gastrointestinal illnesses.

Hydrite Sachet contains: Sodium Chloride 0.7g + Potassium Chloride 0.3g + Sodium Citrate Dihydrate 0.58g + Glucose Anhydrous 4.0g per sachet

Side Effects

Hydrite Sachet common side effects include: nausea or vomiting if consumed too rapidly. Excessive intake may cause electrolyte imbalance symptoms like swelling or fatigue. These effects are uncommon when used as directed. Discontinue use if abdominal distension or persistent vomiting occurs.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and Adolescents (12+ years): 1 sachet dissolved in 200ml water after each loose stool. Maximum: 10-12 sachets daily
  • Children 2-12 years: 1 sachet dissolved in 200ml water after each loose stool. Maximum: 6-8 sachets daily
  • Infants below 2 years: 50-100ml solution after each loose stool. Maximum: 1.5L daily

Continue until diarrhea resolves. Not for long-term use without medical supervision. Adjust dosage based on dehydration severity and weight.

Contraindications

Severe renal impairment, intestinal obstruction, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or unconscious patients. Avoid in those with impaired gag reflex.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used as directed for dehydration management.

Special Precautions

  • Use freshly prepared solution within 24 hours
  • Do not add sugar, flavorings, or other additives
  • Monitor blood glucose in diabetic patients
  • Ensure proper dilution to avoid electrolyte imbalance

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Generally compatible with most medications. Separate administration from antiemetics by 1 hour. Monitor electrolyte levels when used with diuretics.
