NERAMIN-12 is generally used to treat and prevent vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 supplements do help people who have a deficiency. Low levels of Vitamin B12 are more likely in people over age 50. Vitamin B12 is also more common in those with certain conditions like digestive problems and some types of anemia. Low Vitamin B12 can cause fatigue, weakness, memory loss and other problems with the nervous system.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult: Take 1 tablet daily, with meal.
Place tablet under the tongue until dissolved before swallowing. Or as prescribed by the physician.
Missed Dose: Take the dose as soon as the patient remembers but if the missed dose is near the next dose skip the missed dose and continue with the scheduled dosing.

Overdosage
Seek emergency and medical attention if the patient thinks he/she has used too much of this medicine. An overdose of Cyanocobalamin is not likely to cause life-threatening symptoms.

Administration
Should be taken with food: Place tab under the tongue until dissolved before swallowing.
Contraindications
The patient should not take this medicine if allergic to Vitamin B12.
Special Precautions
Cyanocobalamin should, if possible, not be given to patients with suspected Vitamin B12 deficiency without first confirming the diagnosis. Regular monitoring of the blood is advisable. Use of doses greater that 10 micrograms daily may produce a hematological response in patients with folate deficiency; indiscriminate use may mask the precise diagnosis.
Cyanocobalamin should not be used for Leber's disease or tobacco amblyopia since this optic neuropathies may degenerate further.

Adverse Reactions
Adverse effects reported with Cyanocobalamin includes gastrointestinal disturbances, fever, chills, hot flushing, dizziness, malaise, acneiform and bullous eruption and tremor. Allergic hypersensitivity includes skin rashes such as rash and itching, and anaphylaxis.
Drug Interactions
Absorption of Vitamin B12 from the gastrointestinal tracts may be reduced by Neomycin, Aminosalicylic acid, Histamine H2-anatagonist, Omeprazole, and Colchicine. Oral contraceptives and parental Chloramphenicol must also be avoided.

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degree Celsius.
