Special Precautions

Capsule: Buclizine Hydrochloride may cause drowsiness and dulling of mental alertness. Patients undergoing treatment of this drug should not take charge of vehicles, other means of machinery where loss of attention may lead to accidents.
Syrup: Vitamin B-Complex + Iron + L-Lysine HCl (APPETASON) is generally well tolerated by children and adults. Mild drowsiness may occur at the beginning of treatment which gradually disappears after 2-3 days of continuous therapy. Occasional gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, diarrhea may occur with intake of iron. Concomitant administration of tetracycline and some antacids may decrease the amount of iron absorbed, and similarly iron may retard the absorption of tetracycline; these products should not be taken within two hours of each other. Food reduces the absorption of iron but will lessen gastric irritation.
Oral drops: Liquid preparation containing iron salts should be well diluted with water and swallowed through a straw to prevent discoloration of the teeth.

Adverse Reactions

Oral drops: Adverse effects seldom occur following administration of Thiamine HCl (Vitamin B1). Large doses of Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) result in a bright yellow discoloration of urine. The astringent action of iron preparations sometimes produces gastrointestinal irritation and abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting when administered orally. These irritant side effects are usually related to the amount of elemental iron taken rather than the type of preparation. Oral liquid preparation containing iron salts may blacken the teeth and should be drunk through a straw. The feces of patients taking iron salts may be colored black.

Drug Interactions

Syr: Decreased Fe absorption w/ tetracycline & may retard absorption of tetracycline.
