Used as calcium supplement during pregnancy, lactation and skeletal disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 tablets, 1-3 times daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Severe renal failure.
Special Precautions
The calcium content should be considered before prescribing to patients with kidney stones. Preparations containing tetracyclines may be impaired by oral calcium. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Adverse Reactions
Oral calcium salts can cause gastrointestinal disturbances. Excessive amounts may lead to hypercalcemia.
Drug Interactions
Hypercalcemia has occurred when calcium salts are given with thiazide diuretics or vitamin D. Vitamin D increases the gastrointestinal absorption of calcium and thiazide diuretics decrease its urinary excretion. Plasma-calcium concentrations should be monitored in patients receiving the drugs together.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
Action
Calcium monohydrogen phosphate/calcium ascorbate (Calcebone) provides a source of calcium, phosphorous and ascorbic acid, where it is desired or recommended by the physician, to increase dietary intake. This combination is necessary for the prevention and cure of deficiency diseases. With calcium monohydrogen phosphate/calcium ascorbate (Calcebone), calcium utilization is improved, and defective bone and tooth formation as well as the vitamin C deficiency, which frequently accompanies such disorder is corrected.
