It is also indicated for the treatment of uric acid nephropathy, calcium oxalate calculi, and the prevention of uric acid deposition in patients receiving therapy for leukemia or other malignancies. By lowering serum and urinary uric acid levels, it effectively prevents the recurrence of painful gouty attacks and the development of chronic joint damage.
