Dosage / Directions

Take exactly as your prescriber indicates.

• Administration: Swallow with up to 120 mL (4 oz) plain water on an empty stomach in the morning. Wait a full 30 minutes before eating, drinking other beverages, or taking other medications—doing otherwise may reduce absorption.
• Typical Escalation Schedule:
• Days 1–30: 3 mg daily (start dose)
• Days 31–60: Escalate to 7 mg daily, if tolerated
• Day 61 onward: Possible increase to 14 mg daily, based on clinical response

A missed dose should not be doubled; simply resume your daily routine on the next scheduled day.

Side Effects

Common (mild, usually temporary): Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, decreased appetite, constipation, or headache. Less common but serious: Pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, worsening vision, dehydration, or kidney issues—especially when treating side effects like nausea. Seek medical attention promptly if these occur.

Warnings

• Avoid use if there's a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 endocrine syndrome.
• Not advised in severe kidney or stomach motility disorders.
• May delay the absorption of oral medications—timing adjustments may be necessary.

Drug Interactions
