Indications / Uses

SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 80mcg / 4.5mcg is used for regular asthma treatment in adults and adolescents requiring combination therapy. It helps control symptoms and prevent asthma exacerbations by reducing airway inflammation and bronchoconstriction.

Formulation / Ingredients
SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 80mcg / 4.5mcg contains: Budesonide 80mcg + Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate 4.5mcg per inhalation.

Side Effects

SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 80mcg / 4.5mcg common side effects include: headache, throat irritation, oral candidiasis, and upper respiratory tract infections. Less common effects may include tremors, palpitations, hoarseness, and muscle cramps. Discontinue use if experiencing breathing difficulties or severe allergic reactions.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and Adolescents (12+ years): 1-2 inhalations twice daily. Maximum: 8 inhalations within 24 hours.
• Children (6-11 years): 2 inhalations twice daily under medical supervision only.

Not recommended for children under 6 years. Always rinse mouth after use to prevent oral infections.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any components. Not for primary treatment of acute asthma attacks. Avoid use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Potential fetal risks exist based on mechanism of action. Excreted in breast milk - consider discontinuing nursing during treatment.

Special Precautions

• Monitor for systemic corticosteroid effects with prolonged use
• Use cautiously in tuberculosis, diabetes, or cardiovascular disorders
• Increased pneumonia risk in COPD patients

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May potentiate effects with other beta-adrenergic agents. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic exposure. Avoid concomitant beta-blockers.

How should I store it?

Store below 30°C with mouthpiece down. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Discard 3 months after opening or when dose counter shows zero.
