SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 160mcg / 4.5mcg is used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in patients requiring combination therapy. It helps control symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath while reducing inflammation in the airways to prevent exacerbations.

Formulation / Ingredients
SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 160mcg / 4.5mcg contains: Budesonide 160mcg + Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate 4.5mcg per inhalation.

Side Effects

SYMBICORT TURBUHALER 160mcg / 4.5mcg common side effects include: headache, throat irritation, oral candidiasis (thrush), and upper respiratory tract infections. Less frequently reported effects may include tremors, palpitations, hoarseness, and muscle cramps. Discontinue use if experiencing breathing difficulties after administration or severe allergic reactions.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (18+ years): 1-2 inhalations twice daily. Maximum: 8 inhalations within 24 hours.
• Adolescents (12-17 years): 1-2 inhalations twice daily. Maximum: 8 inhalations within 24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 12 years. Rinse mouth with water after each use to prevent oral infections.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any components. Not for primary treatment of acute asthma attacks or status asthmaticus. Avoid use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Potential fetal risks exist based on mechanism of action. Excreted in breast milk - consider discontinuing nursing during treatment.

Special Precautions

• Monitor for systemic corticosteroid effects with prolonged high-dose use
• Use cautiously in patients with tuberculosis, ocular herpes simplex, or cardiovascular disorders
• Increased pneumonia risk in COPD patients

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May potentiate effects with other beta-adrenergic agents. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic exposure. Avoid concomitant beta-blockers.

How should I store it?

Store below 30°C with mouthpiece down. Keep in dry place away from moisture. Discard 3 months after opening or when dose counter shows zero.
