Indications / Uses

PECOF Syrup 100mL is used for relieving bronchospasm and productive cough in respiratory conditions like bronchitis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It combines bronchodilation, mucus thinning, and expectoration to ease breathing difficulties and clear airways during respiratory infections with excessive phlegm production. The formulation helps manage wheezing, chest tightness, and congestion in pediatric patients.

Formulation / Ingredients
PECOF Syrup 100mL contains: Salbutamol Sulfate 2mg + Bromhexine Hydrochloride 4mg + Guaifenesin 100mg per 5mL.

Side Effects

PECOF Syrup 100mL common side effects include: tremors, nervousness, headache, nausea, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort. Less frequently, it may cause dizziness, diarrhea, or increased heart rate. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions like rash or paradoxical bronchospasm may occur in sensitive individuals.

Directions and Dosage

• Children 6-12 years: 5mL (Salbutamol 2mg/Bromhexine 4mg/Guaifenesin 100mg) 3 times daily. Maximum: 15mL in 24 hours.
• Adolescents (12-17 years): 5-10mL 3 times daily. Maximum: 30mL in 24 hours.
• Adults (18+ years): 10mL 3 times daily. Maximum: 30mL in 24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 6 years. Take after meals to reduce stomach upset. Maximum treatment duration: 5 days unless otherwise directed.

Contraindications

Avoid with severe cardiac disorders, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, or hypersensitivity to sympathomimetics. Contraindicated during acute asthma attacks requiring emergency care. Not recommended for peptic ulcers or seizure disorders.

Special Precautions

• Monitor heart rate in patients with hypertension or arrhythmias
• Use cautiously with diabetes or thyroid dysfunction
• Maintain adequate hydration to support mucus clearance
• Discontinue if severe gastrointestinal symptoms develop

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May interact with beta-blockers reducing bronchodilator effectiveness. Avoid with sedatives or cough suppressants. Consult before combining with MAO inhibitors or theophylline derivatives.
