LEUKOREX Montelukast 10mg is used for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents 15 years of age and older. It is also indicated for the long-term management of symptoms associated with both seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Furthermore, it serves a role in preventing exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in this age group.

Side Effects
DIRONEST Montelukast 10mg common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, fever, cough, and upper respiratory infection. More serious but less common adverse effects may involve changes in mood and behavior, such as agitation, anxiety, depression, or sleep-related issues including dream abnormalities and insomnia. Other rare side effects reported post-marketing can be a tendency for increased bleeding, palpitations, and symptoms suggestive of liver issues or severe skin reactions.
Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults and Adolescents (15+ years): 1 tablet (10 mg strength) once daily for the treatment of asthma and/or allergic rhinitis.
- Dosage for Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (15+ years): 1 tablet (10 mg strength) taken at least 2 hours before exercise. Do not take an additional dose within 24 hours of a previous dose.
The maximum daily dosage is 1 tablet (10 mg). The product is not recommended for children under 15 years old for the treatment of asthma/allergic rhinitis.
Contraindications
This product should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of its components. It is not intended for the treatment of acute asthma attacks, including a sudden and severe worsening of asthma symptoms.
Special Precautions
- It is not a substitute for inhaled or oral medications that control or relieve acute attacks. Individuals should keep their acute relief medication readily available.
- Those with known aspirin sensitivity should continue to avoid aspirin and other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) while taking this product.
- Discontinue use and seek advice if a change in behavior, mood, or sleep pattern is noticed.

This product is generally safe when administered with other drugs commonly used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. No dose adjustment is typically necessary for other routine medications used for these conditions.
