Flucysteine Acetylcysteine 200mg is used for mucolytic therapy in respiratory conditions with excessive mucus secretions. It treats acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases including bronchitis, emphysema, and bronchiectasis. This medication also serves as an antidote in paracetamol overdose management. It helps thin viscous secretions for easier expectoration and airway clearance.

Side Effects

Flucysteine Acetylcysteine 200mg common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, and rhinorrhea. Less frequently reported reactions are fever, drowsiness, and bronchospasm. Rare but serious effects include anaphylactoid reactions and angioedema. Discontinue immediately if severe hypersensitivity reactions occur.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults (14+ years): 1 sachet (200mg) 2-3 times daily. Maximum daily dose: 600mg.
  • Children 2-13 years: 1 sachet (200mg) twice daily. Maximum daily dose: 400mg.

Not recommended for children under 2 years. Dissolve contents in water before administration. Maximum treatment duration: 10 days unless clinically indicated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to active component. Severe respiratory insufficiency with inadequate cough reflex. Active peptic ulcer disease. History of bronchospasm following previous administration.
