Duavent Nebule is used for managing reversible airway obstruction in conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It provides bronchodilation to relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. This combination is particularly suitable for patients requiring both rapid-onset and maintenance therapy for bronchospasm.

Duavent Nebule contains: Ipratropium bromide 500mcg + Salbutamol sulfate 2.5mg per 2.5mL solution.

Side Effects

Duavent Nebule common side effects include headache, tremors, dry mouth, and throat irritation. Less frequently, it may cause tachycardia, palpitations, dizziness, or paradoxical bronchospasm. Hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria or angioedema occur rarely but require immediate discontinuation.

Directions and Dosage

  • Adults and adolescents (12+ years): 1 nebule (2.5mL) via nebulizer 3-4 times daily. Maximum: 4 nebs/24 hours.
  • Children 6-12 years: 1 nebule (2.5mL) via nebulizer up to 4 times daily as needed. Maximum: 4 nebs/24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 6 years. Maximum treatment duration per session: 5-10 minutes nebulization. Administer with compressed air or oxygen flow rate of 6-8 L/min.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to atropine derivatives or sympathomimetics
  • Tachyarrhythmias, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy

Special Precautions

  • Use cautiously in cardiovascular disorders (hypertension, CAD)
  • Monitor for signs of glaucoma or urinary retention
  • Avoid in severe hepatic impairment
  • Risk of hypokalemia with high doses

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

  • May interact with beta-blockers (reduced efficacy)
  • Increased cardiovascular effects with other sympathomimetics
