Side Effects
DOXOFYR Doxofylline 400mg common side effects include gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain. Neurological effects like headache, irritability, and insomnia may also occur. Cardiovascular effects may present as tachycardia (rapid heart rate) or extrasystole (abnormal heart rhythm). Occasionally, tachypnea (rapid breathing), hyperglycemia, and albuminuria have been reported after administration of xanthines. Severe adverse reactions like major arrhythmias and seizures are possible in cases of overdosage and could be the first sign of toxicity.
Directions and Dosage

Contraindications

Special Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with heart conditions such as hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, or other cardiovascular diseases.
- Should be given cautiously to individuals with a history of peptic ulceration, hyperthyroidism, porphyria, or epilepsy, as these conditions may be made worse.
- Caution is needed for those with severe hypoxemia, chronic right ventricular failure, congestive heart failure, liver dysfunction, or kidney impairment.
- Lower dosing may be necessary in patients with congestive heart failure or severe liver disease, as drug plasma levels may be prolonged.
- Dosing may also need adjustment for those with acute febrile illness or the elderly.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Use with other derivatives of this class of drugs should be avoided as their toxic effects are additive. Caution is advised when taking with certain antiarrhythmics, antibiotics (like macrolides), anti-flu vaccines, cimetidine, allopurinol, or oral contraceptives, as they may decrease the clearance of this medicine, potentially increasing its concentration in the blood.
