DIAFARM Acetylcysteine 200mg is used for reducing mucus viscosity in respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other pulmonary disorders. It acts as a mucolytic agent to facilitate easier expectoration and improve breathing comfort in affected individuals.

DIAFARM Acetylcysteine 200mg contains: Acetylcysteine 200mg per sachet + excipients (including flavorings and sweeteners).

Side Effects

DIAFARM Acetylcysteine 200mg common side effects include: gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea or vomiting, mild heartburn, and occasional diarrhea. Less frequently, patients may experience tinnitus or skin reactions like rashes. These symptoms are typically transient and resolve without intervention.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults and Adolescents (12+ years): 1 sachet (200mg) dissolved in water, taken 2-3 times daily. Maximum: 600mg/24 hours.
• Children 6-12 years: 1 sachet (200mg) once or twice daily. Maximum: 400mg/24 hours.
• Children 2-5 years: ½ sachet (100mg) 2-3 times daily. Maximum: 300mg/24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision. Duration of treatment depends on symptom severity and clinical response.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine or related compounds. Avoid in patients with active peptic ulcer disease or severe hepatic impairment.

Special Precautions

• Use cautiously in patients with asthma due to potential bronchospasm risk
• Monitor renal function during prolonged high-dose therapy
• May affect blood glucose levels in diabetic patients

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May reduce effectiveness of certain antibiotics if taken simultaneously. Separate administration by at least 2 hours. Avoid concurrent use with antitussives that suppress cough reflex.
