Indications / Uses

DIACYSTEINE Acetylcysteine is used for reducing mucus viscosity in acute and chronic bronchopulmonary disorders like bronchitis, asthma, and emphysema. It also serves as an antidote for acetaminophen overdose by preventing liver damage through glutathione replenishment. Additionally, it aids in managing respiratory conditions with excessive or thick mucus secretions.

Formulation / Ingredients
DIACYSTEINE Acetylcysteine contains: Acetylcysteine 200mg/600mg + flavoring agents + sweeteners.

Side Effects

DIACYSTEINE Acetylcysteine common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, and diarrhea. Less frequently, it may cause skin rash, fever, or tinnitus. Serious reactions like bronchospasm or anaphylaxis require immediate medical attention.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (18+ years): 200mg dissolved in water 2-3 times daily for mucus reduction. For acetaminophen overdose: 600mg every 4 hours for 17 doses.
• Adolescents 12-17 years: 200mg twice daily. Maximum: 600mg/24 hours.
• Children 2-11 years: 100mg twice daily. Maximum: 300mg/24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 2 without medical supervision. Maximum treatment duration: 10 days unless advised otherwise.

Contraindications

Severe asthma or active peptic ulcer disease. Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine derivatives.

Special Precautions

• Monitor for bronchospasm in asthma patients
• Use cautiously in gastric ulcer history
• Administer with food to reduce GI irritation

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

May reduce effectiveness of certain antibiotics. Avoid concurrent use with cough suppressants. Potential interaction with nitroglycerin causing hypotension.

How should I store it?

Store below 30°C in original packaging. Keep container tightly sealed and protect from moisture. Discard prepared solution after 48 hours.
