Indications/Uses
Treatment of advanced breast cancer in women w/ natural or artificially induced postmenopausal status, who have previously been treated w/ antiestrogens. Also as 1st-line treatment in postmenopausal women w/ advanced breast cancer & pre-op therapy in postmenopausal women w/ localized hormone receptor +ve breast cancer to allow subsequent breast conserving surgery in women not originally considered candidate for this type of surgery, subsequent treatment after surgery should be in accordance w/ standard of care.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 2.5 mg once daily. No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Premenopausal endocrine status, pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal & severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score C). Monitor overall bone health during treatment. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Arthralgia, hot flushes; anorexia, increased appetite, hypercholesterolemia, depression, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, alopecia, increased sweating, rash, myalgia, bone pain, osteoporosis, bone fractures, fatigue, peripheral edema, increased wt, vertigo, palpitations, HTN, abdominal pain, hyperhidrosis, dry skin, arthritis, back pain, vag haemorrhage, chest pain, fall.

Cytochrome P-450 isozymes 2A6, 2C19.
