Side Effects
GOUTSAPH Colchicine 500mcg common side effects include: gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain or cramping. More serious, but less frequent, side effects can involve changes in blood counts, such as low white blood cell or platelet levels, which may manifest as unusual bruising, bleeding, or susceptibility to infections. Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (Acute Gout): Initially 1mg (2 tablets), followed by 500mcg (1 tablet) every 2 to 3 hours until pain is relieved or until gastrointestinal symptoms occur.
- Maximum Daily Dosage (Acute Gout): Do not exceed a total of 6mg during one course of treatment.
- Duration of Treatment (Acute Gout): A new course should not be repeated within 3 days.
- Dosage for Adults (Prophylaxis): 500mcg (1 tablet) 2 to 3 times daily.
Doses may need adjustment in individuals with existing kidney or liver impairment.
Contraindications
Avoid use in case of known allergy to the active ingredient. It should not be used in individuals undergoing hemodialysis or those with severe kidney impairment. Use is also not recommended for patients with existing severe liver impairment, or those with serious heart or gastrointestinal disease. Individuals with existing blood disorders should avoid this medicine.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Should be used with caution during pregnancy, only if the potential benefits are judged to outweigh the risks. Due to the potential for harm, it is advised to avoid taking the product while breastfeeding.
Special Precautions
