Indications / Uses
Metoclopramide is used to help relieve heartburn and nausea. It works by speeding up the movement of food through the stomach and intestines. Metoclopramide may also be used for other conditions. It is important to use this medication only as directed.
Side-effects
Metoclopramide common side effects include drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea. Some individuals may experience headache or dizziness. Less common but more serious side effects can include movement disorders or mental/mood changes.
Dosage / Direction
The usual adult dose is 10mg, taken up to 3 times a day.
Doses are lower for adults who weigh less than 60kg, and for people with a liver or kidney problem.
If your child is prescribed metoclopramide, the doctor will use your child's age and weight to work out the right dose.

Contraindications
Metoclopramide should not be used by individuals with a known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide. It is also generally not recommended for individuals with certain medical conditions, such as gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation.
