GENTIX EYE Gentamicin Eye Drops is used for the topical treatment of external eye infections caused by susceptible bacteria. These infections include bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, corneal ulcers, and inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis). It is also used to prevent ocular infection after injuries such as foreign body removal, burns, lacerations of the conjunctiva, or following eye surgery.

Side Effects
GENTIX EYE Gentamicin Eye Drops common side effects include: ocular discomfort such as temporary stinging or burning upon application, and transient eye irritation. Other frequently reported reactions involve the eye's surface, including non-specific conjunctivitis, and increased redness or swelling of the eye or eyelid. Rarely, signs of irritation or allergic reactions like itching and rash may occur. Prolonged use may result in the growth of non-susceptible microorganisms.
Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (18+ years): For mild infections, use 1 to 2 drops every 4 hours. For severe infections, use up to 2 drops every 1 hour.
- Dosage for Kids: For mild infections, use 1 to 2 drops every 4 hours. For severe infections, use up to 2 drops every 1 hour.
Contraindications
The drops should not be used by individuals with a known severe sensitivity to the active ingredient or other similar antibiotics. Use is also inappropriate in cases of hypersensitivity to any of the components in the solution.
Special Precautions
- Extended application may allow non-susceptible organisms, like fungi, to overgrow.
- If new irritation, discharge, pain, or inflammation worsens, the preparation should be stopped.
- Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this solution, as the preservative may accumulate in the lens material.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
No significant interactions have been reported between the eye drops and other systemic drugs. Due to minimal absorption into the body, the topical use of the solution is generally safe to combine with other oral medications.
