Indications/Uses
Brinzolamide-timolol is prescribed to treat glaucoma (buildup of pressure in the eye causing damage to the optic nerve and eventual vision loss) and ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Use brinzolamide-timolol exactly as instructed by your doctor for it to be effective.
- Use brinzolamide-timolol in the eyes only.
- Wash and dry your hands before and after applying this medicine.
- To apply, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye, look up and drop the prescribed dose into the inside of the pulled eyelid, taking care not to touch the eye with the tip of the bottle.
- Close your eye after application and apply light pressure with your finger to the inside corner of your eye near your nose for about 1 minute to prevent the medicine from draining out.
- Do not use more amounts or more often, or use for a longer period than prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not touch or wash the dropper or let it touch your eyes or any other surface.
- Remove contact lenses before using this medicine and do not reinsert unless instructed by your doctor.
- Do not use any other eye medications during treatment with this medicine unless advised by your doctor.
- If you forget to use this medicine on schedule, use it immediately as you remember. However, if it is already time for the next dose, just proceed with your next regular dose schedule.
- Do not stop use unless advised by your doctor.
Contraindications and Special Precautions
- Inform your doctor or pharmacist:
- if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding;
- if you have any of the following conditions: allergy, heart problem (heart failure, AV block), low blood pressure, circulation problem (Raynauds disease), slow heartbeat, high acid level in the blood, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), narrow-angle glaucoma, liver problem, kidney problem, psoriasis, diabetes, thyroid problem, neuromuscular disorder (myasthenia gravis), conditions affecting the cornea, dry eyes, allergic rhinitis;
- if you are using any other prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and dietary or herbal supplements.
- Keep a regular check-up schedule. Your doctor may prescribe tests to check and monitor your progress while under treatment with this medicine.
- If you need to undergo surgery or dental procedure, inform your doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine before going through it.
- Side effects may possibly occur as with most medicines. You may not experience any side effect; however, if you experience any of these side effects with brinzolamide-timolol, inform your doctor immediately, especially if they become severe or persistent: eye pain, itching, irritation, stinging, burning or redness; feeling that something is in the eye, blurred vision, discharge from the eyes, crusting on the eyelids; dry or tired eyes, swelling of eyelids, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, rash, slow heartbeat, sleeping problem, unusual or bitter taste, runny nose, sore throat, cough and allergic reactions such as hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
- If you experience dizziness or vision problems, do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activity which will need you to be alert or to see clearly.
- The side effects mentioned here are not complete and others may occur. If you observe other side effects or reactions, call your doctor for advice.
- Do not share your medicine with others even if you have the same disease symptoms.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep the medicine out of children's reach. Discard it properly when it is expired or no longer needed.
