Indications / Uses of ROSUXL 20 Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet

Rosuvastatin is a statin prescribed to lower high cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. It's for adults, adolescents, and children 6 and older, especially when diet and exercise alone aren't enough. Patients should continue their healthy lifestyle while taking the medication.

It may also be used for those with other cardiovascular risk factors linked to Atherosclerosis, characterized by fatty deposits in the arteries.

What are the side-effects of ROSUXL 20 Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet?

Like all medicines, Rosuvastatin can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Most side effects are mild and typically resolve quickly. It's important to be aware of these potential side effects.

Stop taking Rosuvastatin and seek medical help immediately if you experience any of the following allergic reactions:

Difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Swelling that may cause difficulty swallowing.
Severe itching with raised lumps.
Target-like or circular skin patches with blisters, peeling, or ulcers, possibly preceded by fever (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
Widespread rash, high fever, and enlarged lymph nodes (DRESS syndrome).

Also, contact your doctor if you notice:

Unusual muscle aches or pains lasting longer than expected, especially in children and adolescents, as this may indicate serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis).
Muscle rupture.
Symptoms of lupus-like disease (rash, joint issues, blood cell effects).

Dosage / Direction for Use of ROSUXL 20 Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet

Adult

For High Cholesterol:

The treatment must start with either a 5 mg or 10 mg dose, regardless of any prior higher doses of other statins. The choice of starting dose depends on:

Your cholesterol level
Your risk of heart attack or stroke
Any factors that may increase sensitivity to side effects

To reduce your risk of having a heart attack, stroke or related health problems:

The recommended dose is 20 mg daily.

Your doctor may decide to give you the lowest dose (5 mg) if:

You are over 70 years of age.
You have moderate kidney problems.
You are at risk of muscle aches and pains (myopathy).

Children and Adolescents (6-7 yrs old)

For children aged 6 to 17, rosuvastatin is prescribed at 5 to 20 mg once daily, starting typically at 5 mg. The maximum doses are 10 mg or 20 mg based on the condition.

Rosuvastatin 40 mg is not for children.

Administration:

Swallow each Rosuvastatin tablet whole with a drink of water.
Take it once daily at any time, with or without food.
To help remember, try to take it at the same time each day.

Contraindications

Do not take Rosuvastatin if you:

Have a known allergy to it or its ingredients.
Are pregnant or breastfeeding; stop immediately and consult your doctor if you become pregnant.
Have liver disease or severe kidney problems.
Experience unexplained muscle aches or pains.
Are using a combination of sofosbuvir/velpatasvir/voxilaprevir or the drug ciclosporin.

Additionally, do not take the highest dose of Rosuvastatin if you have moderate kidney issues, thyroid problems, a history of muscle issues, consume large amounts of alcohol, are of Asian descent, or are taking fibrates. Consult your doctor if any of these apply to you or if you are unsure.

Special Precautions

Before taking Rosuvastatin, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you:

Have kidney or liver problems.
Have a history of unexplained muscle aches or pains, muscle issues in yourself or your family, or previous muscle problems with cholesterol medications.
Experience constant muscle weakness.
Have had severe skin reactions (like rash or sores) from Rosuvastatin or similar drugs.
Regularly consume large amounts of alcohol.
Have thyroid issues.
Are taking fibrates for cholesterol.
Use certain HIV medications (like ritonavir with lopinavir or atazanavir).
Have taken fusidic acid in the last 7 days, as it can cause serious muscle issues when combined with Rosuvastatin.
Are over 70 years old, as the starting dose may need adjustment.
Have severe respiratory failure.
Are of Asian descent (Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, or Indian), which may require a specific starting dose.

If any of these apply to you, do not take the 40 mg dose of Rosuvastatin and consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting any dose.

Children and Adolescents:

Under 6 years old: Rosuvastatin should not be given.

Under 18 years old: The 40 mg tablet is not suitable for children and adolescents.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Do not take Rosuvastatin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you become pregnant while taking it, stop immediately and inform your doctor.

Women should use appropriate contraception to avoid pregnancy while on Rosuvastatin.

Driving and Using Machines:

Most people can safely drive and operate machinery while taking Rosuvastatin, as it typically doesn't affect these abilities. However, if you experience dizziness during treatment, consult your doctor before driving or using machines.

Is it safe to take Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet with other drugs?

Inform Your Doctor or Pharmacist If You Are Taking:

Ciclosporin (e.g., after organ transplants)
Blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, clopidogrel, ticagrelor)
Fibrates (e.g., gemfibrozil, fenofibrate) or other cholesterol-lowering medications (e.g., ezetimibe)
Indigestion remedies (acid neutralizers)
Erythromycin or fusidic acid (antibiotics)
Oral contraceptives (the pill)
Cancer treatments (e.g., regorafenib, darolutamide, capmatinib)
Hormone replacement therapy
Fostamatinib (for low platelet counts)
Febuxostat (for high uric acid)
Teriflunomide (for multiple sclerosis)
Viral infection treatments (e.g., ritonavir, lopinavir, atazanavir, simeprevir, ombitasvir, paritaprevir, dasabuvir, velpatasvir, grazoprevir, elbasvir, glecaprevir, pibrentasvir)

These medications may interact with Rosuvastatin, altering its effects or their own.

If you need to take oral fusidic acid for a bacterial infection, you must temporarily stop Rosuvastatin. Your doctor will advise when it’s safe to resume it, as combining them can lead to serious muscle issues.

How should I store Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet?

Ang Rosuvastatin ay isang statin na inirereseta upang pababain ang mataas na cholesterol at bawasan ang panganib ng atake sa puso o stroke. Ito ay para sa mga matatanda, kabataan, at mga bata na 6 na taong gulang pataas, lalo na kung ang diyeta at ehersisyo lamang ay hindi sapat. Dapat ipagpatuloy ng mga pasyente ang kanilang malusog na pamumuhay habang umiinom ng gamot.

Maaari rin itong gamitin para sa mga may iba pang mga salik sa panganib sa cardiovascular na may kaugnayan sa Atherosclerosis, na nailalarawan sa pamamagitan ng mga fatty deposits sa mga ugat.

Ano ang mga epekto ng ROSUXL 20 Rosuvastatin 20mg Tablet?

Matanda
Para sa Mataas na Cholesterol:
Ang paggamot ay dapat magsimula sa 5 mg o 10 mg na dosis, kahit na may mga naunang mas mataas na dosis ng iba pang statins. Ang pagpili ng panimulang dosis ay nakadepende sa:

Antas ng iyong cholesterol
Panganib mo sa atake sa puso o stroke
Anumang salik na maaaring magpataas ng pagiging sensitibo sa mga side effects

Upang bawasan ang panganib ng pagkakaroon ng atake sa puso, stroke, o mga kaugnay na problema sa kalusugan:

Ang inirerekomendang dosis ay 20 mg araw-araw.

Maaaring magpasya ang iyong doktor na bigyan ka ng pinakamababang dosis (5 mg) kung:

Ikaw ay higit sa 70 taong gulang.
May katamtamang problema sa bato.
Ikaw ay nasa panganib ng pananakit ng kalamnan (myopathy).

Mga Bata at Kabataan (6-7 taong gulang)
Para sa mga bata na may edad 6 hanggang 17, ang rosuvastatin ay inirereseta sa 5 hanggang 20 mg isang beses araw-araw, kadalasang nagsisimula sa 5 mg. Ang maximum na dosis ay 10 mg o 20 mg batay sa kondisyon.
Hindi inirerekomenda ang Rosuvastatin 40 mg para sa mga bata.

Paggamit:

Lunukin ng bawat Rosuvastatin tablet nang buo na may tubig.
Inumin ito isang beses araw-araw sa kahit anong oras, may pagkain o wala.
Upang maalala ang pag inom nito, subukang inumin sa parehong oras araw-araw.

Kontraindikasyon

Huwag uminom ng Rosuvastatin kung ikaw ay:

May kilalang allergy dito o sa mga sangkap nito.
Buntis o nagpapasuso; itigil agad at kumunsulta sa iyong doktor kung ikaw ay mabuntis.
May sakit sa atay o malubhang problema sa bato.
Nakakaranas ng hindi maipaliwanag na pananakit ng kalamnan.
Gumagamit ng kumbinasyon ng sofosbuvir/velpatasvir/voxilaprevir o ng gamot na ciclosporin.

Dagdag pa, huwag uminom ng pinakamataas na dosis ng Rosuvastatin kung ikaw ay may katamtamang isyu sa bato, problema sa thyroid, kasaysayan ng mga isyu sa kalamnan, kumonsumo ng malaking halaga ng alak, ikaw ay may lahing Asyano, o umiinom ng fibrates. Kumunsulta sa iyong doktor kung ang alinman sa mga ito ay naaangkop sa iyo o kung ikaw ay hindi sigurado.

Espesyal na mga Pag-iingat

Bago uminom ng Rosuvastatin, kumunsulta sa iyong doktor o parmasyutiko kung ikaw ay:

May problema sa bato o atay.
May kasaysayan ng hindi maipaliwanag na pananakit ng kalamnan, mga isyu sa kalamnan sa sarili o sa pamilya, o nakaranas ng mga naunang problema sa kalamnan mula sa mga gamot sa cholesterol.
Nakakaranas ng patuloy na panghihina ng kalamnan.
Nagkaroon ng malubhang reaksyon sa balat (tulad ng rashes o sugat) mula sa Rosuvastatin o katulad na mga gamot.
Regular na umiinom ng malaking halaga ng alak.
May mga problema sa thyroid.
Uminom ng fibrates para sa cholesterol.
Gumagamit ng ilang mga gamot sa HIV (tulad ng ritonavir na may lopinavir o atazanavir).
Uminom ng fusidic acid sa nakaraang 7 araw, dahil maaari itong magdulot ng malubhang isyu sa kalamnan kapag pinagsama sa Rosuvastatin.
Higit sa 70 taong gulang, dahil maaaring kailanganin ang pagsasaayos ng panimulang dosis.
May malubhang pagkabigo sa paghinga.
May lahing Asyano (Hapon, Tsino, Pilipino, Biyetnames, Koreano, o Indian), na maaaring mangailangan ng partikular na panimulang dosis.

Kung ang alinman sa mga ito ay naaangkop sa iyo, huwag uminom ng 40 mg na dosis ng Rosuvastatin at kumunsulta sa iyong doktor o parmasyutiko bago simulan ang anumang dosis.

Mga Bata at Kabataan:

Sa ilalim ng 6 na taong gulang: Hindi dapat ibigay ang Rosuvastatin.
Sa ilalim ng 18 taong gulang: Hindi angkop ang 40 mg tablet para sa mga bata at kabataan.

Pagbubuntis at Pagpapasuso:

Huwag uminom ng Rosuvastatin kung ikaw ay buntis o nagpapasuso.
Kung ikaw ay mabuntis habang umiinom nito, itigil agad at ipaalam sa iyong doktor.
Dapat gumamit ang mga babae ng angkop na kontraseptibo upang maiwasan ang pagbubuntis habang umiinom ng Rosuvastatin.

Pagmamaneho at Paggamit ng Makina:

Karamihan sa mga tao ay makakapagmaneho at makakapagpatakbo ng makina habang umiinom ng Rosuvastatin, dahil karaniwang hindi nito naaapektuhan ang mga kakayahang ito. Gayunpaman, kung nakakaranas ka ng pagkahilo sa panahon ng paggamot, kumunsulta sa iyong doktor bago magmaneho o gumamit ng makina.
