Indications / Uses
KHRIZMED Lactulose Syrup is used for the management of chronic and habitual constipation by regulating the colon's physiological rhythm. The solution works as an osmotic laxative, drawing water into the intestines to soften the stool and facilitate bowel movement. Furthermore, the product is utilized in the prevention and treatment of portal systemic encephalopathy, including the stages of hepatic pre-coma and coma, by reducing blood ammonia concentrations. It is also beneficial for individuals where passing soft stools is medically advantageous, such as those with hemorrhoids or following colon or anal surgery.
Formulation / Ingredients

Contraindications
This preparation should not be used in individuals who have an obstruction in the bowel, as its mechanism could worsen the condition. It is also not appropriate for those with a rare genetic disorder known as galactosemia. A known sensitivity or allergy to any component of the syrup is also a reason to avoid its use.
Special Precautions
- Those managing sugar intake or having difficulty digesting lactose should be cautious, as the product contains small amounts of free galactose and lactose which may influence sugar levels, especially with extended use.
- In cases where the product is used continuously for more than 6 months, particularly for older or frail users, periodic measurement of the body's mineral salts may be necessary.
- Prior to certain medical procedures, such as electrocautery during an internal examination, careful and complete cleansing of the bowel with a non-fermentable solution is required due to the potential for gas accumulation.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Taking this product concurrently with certain anti-infective preparations may decrease its expected therapeutic effectiveness. It is also important to note that the fluid and mineral salt changes caused by this product can increase the effect of certain medications used to prevent blood clotting, potentially heightening the risk of bleeding.
How should I store it?
Keep the bottle in a location where the temperature does not go above 30°C. The syrup must be protected from light and direct sunlight during storage. A slight darkening of the syrup's color is a normal characteristic of sugar solutions and does not reduce the product's effectiveness.
