Xigduo XR 10mg / 1000mg Tablet is used for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient. It combines two antihyperglycemic agents to lower blood glucose levels through complementary mechanisms of action. This medication is also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with established heart disease.

Side Effects
Xigduo XR 10mg / 1000mg Tablet common side effects include: urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, nasopharyngitis, back pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypoglycemia may occur when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Serious side effects include lactic acidosis (symptoms include muscle pain, dizziness, slow heartbeat), ketoacidosis, volume depletion, and hypersensitivity reactions.
Directions and Dosage
- Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet once daily with evening meal. Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Not recommended for children under 18. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73m²), metabolic acidosis, or hypersensitivity to components.
Contraindications
Severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, history of hypersensitivity to components, acute conditions with risk of renal dysfunction (dehydration, infection).
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Avoid during pregnancy due to potential fetal risks. Discontinue during breastfeeding due to excretion in milk.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Avoid concurrent use with diuretics or other SGLT2 inhibitors. Concomitant insulin may increase hypoglycemia risk. Monitor blood glucose with other antidiabetic agents.
