SITAGARD-M Sitagliptin / Metformin 50 / 500 is used for managing high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. The combination is prescribed when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with maximal tolerated amounts of Metformin alone, or for those already using Sitagliptin and Metformin as separate agents. It may also be used in triple combination therapy with a sulfonylurea or a thiazolidinedione.

Side Effects
SITAGARD-M Sitagliptin / Metformin 50 / 500 common side effects include: diarrhea, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence, and stomach discomfort. Other possible effects include headache, inflammation of the upper respiratory passages, sore throat, and joint or muscle pain. Although uncommon with this combination alone, signs of very low blood sugar may occur, especially when used with other blood sugar-lowering treatments. Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (18+ years): The usual starting dosage is 1 tablet (50 mg Sitagliptin / 500 mg Metformin) twice daily.
- The daily dosage of the first component (Sitagliptin) should not exceed 100 mg.
- The daily dosage of the second component (Metformin) should not exceed 2000 mg.
- The dosage is personalized based on current treatment, effectiveness, and tolerance, and should be taken with meals to reduce stomach effects.
Not recommended for children under 18 years. Dosage adjustments are necessary for individuals with reduced kidney function. Treatment duration is ongoing for type 2 diabetes management.
Contraindications
