When dietary and exercise regimens fail to sufficiently manage blood sugar levels and metformin cannot be utilized, Saxenda is prescribed as a standalone treatment. Saxenda is used with other medicines for diabetes when they are not enough to control your blood sugar levels, these may include oral antidiabetics like Metformin, Pioglitazone, Sulfonylurea, Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors (SGLT2i), and/or Insulin.

Contraindications
- Do not use Saxenda If you are allergic to liraglutide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- A personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, a specific type of thyroid cancer.
- Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, a rare hereditary condition linked to Thyroid Gland cancer and tumors affecting other endocrine system glands.
- Type 1 Diabetes, a chronic condition marked by insufficient insulin production by the pancreas.
- Diabetic ketoacidosis, a diabetes complication involving elevated blood acid levels.
- A history of suicidal thoughts or attempts, as Liraglutide may not be suitable for you.
