Indications / Uses

JARDIANCE DUO 12.5mg / 1G is used for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient for glycemic control. This combination medication addresses blood glucose regulation through dual mechanisms targeting kidney glucose reabsorption and hepatic glucose production. It provides comprehensive management of hyperglycemia while reducing cardiovascular risks in diabetic patients.

Side Effects

JARDIANCE DUO 12.5mg / 1G common side effects include: urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are frequently reported, particularly during initial treatment phases. Additional effects may include increased urination, dehydration symptoms, and vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use.

Directions and Dosage

• Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet twice daily with meals. Maximum: 2 tablets (25mg/2g) daily.

Not recommended for patients under 18 years. Maximum daily dose should not exceed prescribed limits. Regular monitoring of renal function is required during prolonged therapy.

Contraindications

Severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or dialysis; metabolic acidosis including diabetic ketoacidosis; acute conditions with tissue hypoxia; hypersensitivity to components. Avoid during radiographic procedures with iodinated contrast.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy due to potential fetal risks. Avoid use while breastfeeding as components may transfer to infant.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?
