Side Effects

PREND Prednisone 20mg common side effects include: changes in appetite leading to weight gain, fluid retention, and mood fluctuations like nervousness or restlessness. Extended use may lead to more distinct effects such as muscle weakness, fragility of the bones, thin and fragile skin, acne, and developing a rounder face. Other possible effects are increased sweating, trouble sleeping, and digestive upset.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults: Initial daily dosage for various conditions usually ranges from 5 to 60 milligrams. The total daily dosage may be adjusted based on the response to treatment.
• Dosage for Kids & Adolescents: Dosage is individualized and often calculated based on body weight. For acute severe flare-ups, up to 1 to 2 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day is used. Maximum daily dosage should generally not exceed 80 milligrams.

Not recommended for infants unless strictly necessary for life-threatening conditions. The lowest effective dose should always be used for the shortest possible duration. Abrupt cessation of use is highly discouraged after prolonged treatment.

Contraindications
