LYRICA Pregabalin 50mg is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults, including diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia. It is also indicated as adjunctive therapy for adults with partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalization. Furthermore, it is effective in managing Generalized Anxiety Disorder and fibromyalgia, helping to stabilize overactive nerve cells and reduce the transmission of pain signals throughout the central nervous system.

Side Effects
LYRICA Pregabalin 50mg common side effects include: dizziness, somnolence, increased appetite, euphoric mood, confusion, irritability, and blurred vision. Patients may also experience vertigo, dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, flatulence, abdominal distension, and peripheral edema. Fatigue and weight gain are frequently reported during the course of treatment.
Directions and Dosage
- Adults (18+ years): 150 mg to 600 mg daily, divided into 2 or 3 doses. For neuropathic pain, the starting dose is 150 mg daily. For epilepsy and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, the dose can be increased up to 600 mg daily depending on response. For fibromyalgia, the usual dose is 300 mg to 450 mg daily.
Not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years. Maximum daily dosage: 600 mg. Duration of treatment is determined based on the clinical condition and patient response.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Special Precautions
- Requires gradual withdrawal over at least 1 week to minimize risk of increased seizure frequency.
- Monitor for signs of suicidal ideation and behaviors.
- Caution is needed in patients with severe congestive heart failure.
- May cause dizziness and somnolence, impacting the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
May potentiate the effects of ethanol, lorazepam, and oxycodone. Co-administration with central nervous system depressants may lead to additive respiratory failure and coma.
