Indications/Uses
Management of HTN & prophylaxis of angina pectoris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Initially 5 mg once daily. Max: 10 mg once daily. Small, fragile, elderly or patient w/ hepatic insufficiency Initially 2.5 mg once daily. Chronic stable or vasospastic angina 5-10 mg, w/ lower doses on elderly & patients w/ hepatic insufficiency.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Cardiogenic shock, unstable angina & significant aortic stenosis.
Special Precautions
Hypotension, poor cardiac reserve, heart failure, history of MI, acute unstable angina, severe aortic stenosis, ischemic pain. Hepatic impairment. Not intended to treat an anginal attack in chronic stable angina. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
GI, sleep, urinary, visual & taste disturbances. Abdominal pain, nausea, palpitations, flushing, edema, headache, dizziness, fatigue, dry mouth, hypotension, syncope, chest pain, dyspnea, mood changes, tremor, paresthesia, impotence, gynecomastia, wt change, myalgia, pruritus, rashes including erythema multiforme, alopecia, purpura, pancreatitis, hepatitis, jaundice, cholestasis, gingival hyperplasia, MI, arrhythmia, vasculitis, hyperglycemia, thrombocytopenia, angioedema, urticaria.
Drug Interactions
β-blockers, antidiabetics.
