VALCAMP Amlodipine / Valsartan 5mg / 80mg is used for the management of high blood pressure, known as essential hypertension, particularly in adult patients. This combination product is typically utilized when adequate control of blood pressure has not been achieved using either the calcium channel blocker component or the angiotensin II receptor blocker component alone. It may also be considered as an initial treatment approach for people who are likely to require multiple medications to effectively reach their blood pressure reduction goals. By combining two distinct mechanisms of action, this formulation helps to relax blood vessels and reduce the heart's workload, contributing to a lower risk of serious cardiovascular events.

Side Effects

VALCAMP Amlodipine / Valsartan 5mg / 80mg common side effects include swelling, often noticeable in the hands, ankles, or feet, as well as headache, dizziness, and feeling unusually tired. Some individuals may experience stomach discomfort, flushing, or lightheadedness, especially when quickly changing position. Less frequent but more serious adverse effects reported involve rapid or irregular heartbeats and symptoms that may indicate liver issues, such as yellowing of the skin or eyes. If any signs of severe swelling in the face or throat are noticed, immediate attention is necessary.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years): The usual starting and maintenance dose is 1 tablet once daily, containing 5 mg of one component and 80 mg of the other.
• The daily dose should not exceed 10 mg of the first component and 320 mg of the second component in any combination strength.

The combination is not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age due to limited study data in this population. The duration of therapy is long-term for chronic management.

Contraindications

Do not use this product if there is a known hypersensitivity to its contents. It is absolutely prohibited during pregnancy. The medication must be avoided in individuals diagnosed with severe impairment of the liver or kidneys, as well as in cases of bile flow obstruction or cardiogenic shock.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
