Indications / Uses

RITEMED Losartan 100mg is used for managing essential hypertension, commonly referred to as high blood pressure, in adult patients. It is also indicated to reduce the risk of stroke in those with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy. This medication, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, aids in kidney protection for individuals with type 2 diabetes who also have proteinuria. The drug works by relaxing blood vessels to effectively lower blood pressure.

Side Effects

RITEMED Losartan 100mg common side effects include: dizziness, congestion in the nasal passages, back pain, and feelings of general fatigue. Less frequent effects that may be experienced are muscle cramps, digestive system discomfort, and high potassium levels in the blood. Although rare, more serious reactions have been reported, such as chest pain, irregular heart rhythms, or signs of an allergic response.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet (100mg) once daily. This is often the maximum recommended daily dosage for most patients.
• Patients with hepatic impairment or volume depletion: A lower starting dosage is typically required.

The daily dosage should not exceed 100mg. Not recommended for children under 6 years.

Contraindications

Avoid use during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal injury or death. Do not take if there is a known sensitivity to any of the components. Also contraindicated in individuals with bilateral kidney artery blockage or a history of swelling related to similar blood pressure treatments.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Treatment must be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed because of the potential for harm to the developing fetus. The substance passes into breast milk, so it is advised to avoid nursing during the period of use due to potential risks to the baby.

Special Precautions

• Monitor kidney function closely, especially if pre-existing kidney conditions are present.
• Maintain adequate hydration levels to help prevent the onset of low blood pressure.
• Check blood potassium levels regularly, particularly in those with kidney impairment.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Combining with potassium-sparing medications or supplements can increase potassium levels. There is also a potential for reduced effectiveness when taken with certain anti-inflammatory pain relievers. The concurrent use of aliskiren must be avoided for individuals who have diabetes.

How should I store it?

Keep the original packaging below 30°C. The container should be tightly sealed and protected from both moisture and direct light.
