Side Effects
RENITE XL Enalapril Maleate 10mg common side effects include: a persistent dry cough, dizziness, hypotension, and headache. Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (18+ years): Initially 5mg once daily. Maintenance dose is typically 10 to 20mg once daily. Do not exceed 40mg in 24 hours.
- Dosage for Kids (6–17 years): 0.08mg per kg of body weight (up to 5mg) once daily. Do not exceed 40mg daily.
Not recommended for children under 6 years or with low glomerular filtration rates. Treatment is usually long-term for chronic conditions.
Contraindications
History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatment or hereditary/idiopathic angioedema. Use is prohibited in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and in combination with products containing aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
This medication can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus if used during pregnancy. It is also excreted in human milk; therefore, its use is not recommended for those who are breastfeeding.
Special Precautions
- Excessive hypotension may occur in patients with salt or volume depletion.
- Renal function and serum potassium levels should be monitored regularly during therapy.
- Caution is required in patients with aortic stenosis or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Interactions may occur with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or lithium. Concurrent use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect and increase the risk of kidney issues.
How should I store it?
