NITROFIX SR Isosorbide 60mg is used for the long-term prevention and sustained management of angina pectoris, which is chest pain caused by coronary artery disease. As a prolonged-release formulation, it delivers the active component over an extended period to prevent the recurrence of painful attacks. It acts as a vasodilator, relaxing and widening blood vessels to reduce the heart's workload and improve blood flow. However, it is important to note that this product is not suitable for the immediate relief of a sudden, acute anginal attack.

Side Effects

NITROFIX SR Isosorbide 60mg common side effects include: headaches, which are often a sign of the product's activity and typically decrease over time with continued use. Other side effects may include dizziness, lightheadedness upon standing (postural hypotension), and flushing. Less frequent reactions can involve nausea, vomiting, and a rapid or irregular heartbeat (palpitations). Headaches can often be relieved with simple pain relievers without impacting the effectiveness of the treatment.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years): Initially, 30 mg to 60 mg once daily in the morning. The dosage may be increased to 120 mg once daily if needed, though higher doses up to 240 mg once daily are occasionally used.

Maximum daily dosage is 240 mg orally once daily, but the lowest effective dose should be used. The treatment should not be abruptly discontinued to avoid potential complications. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in patients younger than 18 years.

Contraindications

This product is strictly contraindicated for individuals who have had an allergic reaction to nitrates or any component of the tablet. It should not be used in cases of acute circulatory failure, severe low blood pressure, or cardiogenic shock. Concomitant use with certain medications for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension must be avoided due to the risk of dangerously low blood pressure.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

There is limited data regarding the safety of this product during pregnancy, so it should be used only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. It is unknown whether the active substance is transferred into breast milk; therefore, caution is necessary if used during nursing.

Special Precautions

• Use with caution in people with conditions that cause severe low blood pressure or low blood volume.
• The use may aggravate the pain caused by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
• Not intended for relief of acute episodes of chest pain; use a separate fast-acting product for that purpose.
• Avoid or limit alcohol consumption as it may increase the occurrence of lightheadedness or low blood pressure.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

It is critically unsafe to combine this product with certain medications used for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension, as this combination can lead to a severe and life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Use with caution with other products that also lower blood pressure, such as certain types of blood pressure or heart medications, as their effects may be additive.

How should I store it?

Store the product at room temperature, ideally between 20°C and 25°C. Keep it in its original container and protect it from moisture.
