Indications / Uses of KARVIDOL Carvedilol 6.25mg Tablet
Carvedilol is a beta-blocker that helps relax and widen blood vessels, which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood, lowers blood pressure, and reduces strain on the heart.
Carvedilol is used to:
- Treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
- Manage chest pain from narrowed heart arteries (angina).
- Treat heart failure, often with other medications.
What are the side-effects of KARVIDOL Carvedilol 6.25mg Tablet?
Most side effects of carvedilol are related to the dose and typically resolve if the dose is adjusted or treatment is stopped. Some side effects may occur at the start of treatment but may improve over time. Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately if you experience:
- Heart failure
- Allergic reactions
- Skin rash with target-like spots (erythema multiforme)
- Widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Dosage / Direction for Use of KARVIDOL Carvedilol 6.25mg Tablet
For High Blood Pressure
Adults:
Start with 12.5 mg once daily for the first two days. Increase to 25 mg once daily. Dose may be further increased gradually at intervals of two weeks or more. Maximum daily dose: 50 mg (single dose maximum: 25 mg).
Elderly:
Usually start with 12.5 mg once daily. Dose may be increased gradually at intervals of two weeks or more if needed. Maximum daily dose generally remains 12.5 mg.
For Angina
Adults:
Start with 12.5 mg twice daily for the first two days. Increase to 25 mg twice daily. Dose may be further increased gradually at intervals of two weeks or more. Maximum daily dose: 100 mg (divided into two doses).
Elderly:
Start with 12.5 mg twice daily for two days. Increase to 25 mg twice daily, which is the recommended maximum daily dose.
For Heart Failure treatment in Adults and the Elderly
Starting Dose: 3.125 mg twice daily with food for two weeks. Your doctor will gradually increase the dose every two weeks, up to 25 mg twice daily if you weigh less than 85 kg, or 50 mg twice daily if you weigh more.

Contraindications
Do not take Carvedilol if you:
- Are allergic to Carvedilol or any of its ingredients
- Have a history of wheezing due to lung diseases
- Have severe heart failure with fluid retention treated by IV medications
- Have liver disease
- Have a very slow heartbeat
- Have very low blood pressure
- Have Prinzmetal’s angina
- Have untreated phaeochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor)
- Have had severe skin reactions like toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) or Stevens-Johnson syndrome
- Suffer from serious metabolic acidosis
- Experience severe poor blood circulation in extremities
- Have a specific heart conduction defect (AV block Grade II or III or SA block) unless a pacemaker is fitted
- Are treated with verapamil or diltiazem injections
Special Precautions
Before taking Carvedilol, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you:
- Have other heart problems
