Indications / Uses
KARVIDOL Carvedilol 25mg is used for the long-term management of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris (chest pain). It is also employed as an adjunctive treatment for moderate to severe stable chronic heart failure. This medication acts by blocking both alpha and beta receptors, which slows the heart rate and effectively relaxes the blood vessels. This dual action mechanism improves blood flow and decreases the overall workload on the heart, helping to protect against serious cardiovascular events.

Side Effects
KARVIDOL Carvedilol 25mg common side effects include: dizziness, lightheadedness, unusual tiredness, and a slower-than-normal heart rate. Some individuals may also experience generalized swelling, particularly of the feet, ankles, or lower legs, and some noticeable weight gain. Any sudden or severe symptoms like trouble breathing or severe chest discomfort require immediate attention.
Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (Hypertension): Initial dosage is typically 12.5 mg once daily for 2 days, usually increasing to 25 mg once daily thereafter. The maximum daily dose for hypertension is generally 50 mg.
- Dosage for Adults (Heart Failure): Initial dose is 3.125 mg twice daily. The dose is gradually doubled at intervals of at least 2 weeks, if tolerated. The maximum dose for severe heart failure or patients under 85 kg is typically 25 mg twice daily.

This medication is intended for the long-term management of chronic cardiovascular conditions. Stopping use abruptly is strongly discouraged.
Contraindications
Should not be administered in cases of unstable or decompensated heart failure requiring intravenous therapy. Contraindicated for individuals with very slow heart rate or certain serious heart conduction blocks unless a pacemaker is present. Avoid use if there is a history of asthma, bronchospasm, or severe liver impairment.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Use during the later stages of pregnancy may cause fetal bradycardia (slow heart rate) and hypotension. The active substance is known to pass into the mother's milk, which may pose a risk of low blood pressure or severely slow heart rate to the nursing child.
Special Precautions
- Abrupt discontinuation of the therapy must be strictly avoided as it may lead to the worsening of heart-related symptoms.
- Use requires caution in patients with uncompensated diabetes or those prone to hypoglycemia, as the signs of low blood sugar may be masked.
- Patients should be monitored if they have peripheral arterial disease, as symptoms may potentially be exacerbated.
- Patients scheduled for cataract surgery should disclose the use of this product beforehand.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Combining this with specific anti-arrhythmic agents or certain calcium channel blockers can significantly increase the risk of severely slow heart rate. It may enhance the effects of insulin and oral medications for diabetes, increasing the risk of severely low blood sugar episodes. The concentration of this product in the body can be increased by certain metabolism-inhibiting drugs.
How should I store it?
Store the tablets in the original container at a controlled room temperature, typically below 30°C. Keep the product protected from excessive moisture and exposure to heat.
