Do I need prescription to buy HYPERSTOP Captopril 25mg?

Yes, you need a prescription. But if you don't have one, you can get a free teleconsultation from MedsGo Physician. Just make an order and our Physician will call you back.

Side Effects

HYPERSTOP Captopril 25mg common side effects include a persistent dry cough, dizziness or lightheadedness, and a noticeable change in the ability to taste food. Other frequent but less severe effects may involve skin rashes, generalized itching, and feeling unusually tired. More serious but rare adverse effects may include sudden, severe swelling of the face, lips, or tongue (angioedema), signs of kidney issues, and dangerously low blood pressure. Users should watch for signs of infection such as fever or sore throat.

Directions and Dosage

  • Dosage for Adults (Hypertension): Initial dosage is 25 mg 2 or 3 times a day. The maintenance dosage typically ranges from 25 mg to 150 mg 2 to 3 times a day.
  • Dosage for Adults (Heart Failure): Initial dosage is 6.25 mg to 12.5 mg 3 times a day. The target dosage is 50 mg 3 times a day.
  • Dosage for Adults (Diabetic Nephropathy): The usual dosage is 25 mg 3 times a day.

Do not exceed a maximum daily dosage of 450 mg. The medication is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy in the pediatric population have not been fully established.

Contraindications

Avoid use if there is a known sensitivity or allergy to this class of medications. It is also strictly contraindicated in individuals who have a history of severe swelling (angioedema) related to previous exposure to similar drugs. Use is forbidden if you are currently taking or have taken a neprilysin inhibitor within the last 36 hours. Patients who have diabetes should not use this drug alongside aliskiren.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Use of this medication is not safe during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy as it can cause serious harm to the unborn baby. It is important to stop use immediately if pregnancy is detected. Regarding lactation, studies indicate that the risk to a breastfed infant is minimal.

Special Precautions

  • Be aware of the risk of sudden, severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which requires immediate attention.
  • Monitor for signs of abnormally low blood pressure, particularly after the initial dose, which may cause dizziness or fainting.
  • Use with caution if there are existing kidney or liver conditions.
  • Avoid using salt substitutes containing potassium as this can dangerously increase potassium levels in the body.

Is it safe to take it with other medications?

Combining this product with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or potassium-sparing diuretics can increase the risk of kidney issues or high potassium levels. Use with other blood pressure medicines or water pills may cause blood pressure to drop too low. Avoid simultaneous use with a neprilysin inhibitor or with injectable gold.

How should I store it?

Store the tablets at room temperature, away from excessive heat and moisture. Keep the medication in a tightly closed container and out of the reach of children.
