Indications / Uses

XYCLOVIRAX FORTE Aciclovir 800mg is used for the management and prevention of various viral infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV), including outbreaks affecting the skin and mucous membranes, such as oral cold sores and recurrent genital herpes. This antiviral medication is also specifically indicated for the treatment of infections caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV). This includes acute cases of Herpes zoster, commonly known as shingles, and Varicella, known as chickenpox.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years) for Shingles or Chickenpox: 800 mg taken 5 times daily. The total daily intake should not exceed 4000 mg (4 grams).
• Dosage for Kids 2 years and over for Chickenpox: 20 mg per kg of body weight, taken 4 times daily. The dosage should not exceed 800 mg per single dose.

Maximum treatment duration for acute infections is typically between 7 and 10 days. The product is generally not recommended for infants under 2 years old. Intake should be evenly spaced throughout the day while the individual is awake.

Contraindications

This product should not be used by individuals who have a known history of severe allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to the primary active compound or to related antiviral substances.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Available medical data suggests that use during pregnancy and while nursing does not carry a known high risk. The active compound is generally compatible with both states.
