It is also employed for certain less common infections spread by ticks or other vectors, such as rickettsial diseases and tularemia.

Directions and Dosage

• Dosage for Adults (18+ years - General Infections): Typically 500 mg, taken 2 to 4 times per day, depending on the severity of the condition.
• Dosage for Adults (Acne Maintenance): The daily dosage may range from 125 mg to 500 mg once improvement is noted.

Not recommended for children under 8 years of age due to the risk of permanent tooth discoloration. Do not exceed a maximum daily dosage of 2000 mg (4 capsules) unless specifically required for severe cases. The duration of therapy depends on the specific infection being treated.

Contraindications

This medication is strictly unsuitable for anyone with a known severe adverse reaction to any component of this class of antibacterial agents. It should also be avoided by individuals with severe impairment of liver function.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
