MONPHEVIN Erythromycin 200mg Suspension is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and streptococcal pharyngitis. This medication is also used as an alternative for patients allergic to penicillin and for the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever.

Side Effects
MONPHEVIN Erythromycin 200mg Suspension common side effects include: gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Directions and Dosage
- Adults and children over 8 years: 400mg every 6 hours or 400-800mg every 12 hours. Maximum daily dose: 4g
- Children 4-8 years (20-30kg): 200-400mg every 6-8 hours
- Children 1-4 years (10-20kg): 100-200mg every 6-8 hours
- Infants under 1 year: 30-50mg/kg/day divided into 3-4 doses
Duration of treatment: Typically 7-14 days depending on infection severity. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to erythromycin or other macrolide antibiotics. History of hepatitis or liver dysfunction associated with prior erythromycin use. Concomitant use with certain medications that prolong QT interval.
Special Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with impaired hepatic function
- May cause gastrointestinal irritation; administer with food if needed
- Superinfections may occur with prolonged use
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Interacts with several medications including anticoagulants, theophylline, and carbamazepine. May increase effects of certain drugs metabolized by cytochrome P450 system. Always disclose all current medications before use.
How should I store it?
Store reconstituted suspension in refrigerator between 2-8°C. Use within 14 days after reconstitution. Keep container tightly closed. Do not freeze.
