LEVCAR Levofloxacin 500mg is used for the treatment of mild to severe bacterial infections in adults (≥18 years old). This includes respiratory conditions like community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It is also highly effective for various complicated and uncomplicated infections of the urinary tract, including acute pyelonephritis, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. Furthermore, it is indicated for chronic bacterial prostatitis, targeting susceptible strains of bacteria.

Side Effects
LEVCAR Levofloxacin 500mg common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and headache. More serious, though less frequent, adverse effects include musculoskeletal issues such as inflammation and rupture of tendons, particularly the Achilles' tendon. Central nervous system effects like dizziness, insomnia, confusion, and peripheral neuropathy (tingling, burning pain) may also occur. Rare but severe effects include heart rhythm changes and life-threatening skin or allergic reactions.
Directions and Dosage
- Dosage for Adults (18+ years): 1 tablet (500 mg) once daily for most infections.
- Dosage for Chronic Bronchitis: 500 mg once daily for 7 days.
- Dosage for Acute Sinusitis: 500 mg once daily for 10 to 14 days.
The maximum daily dosage is typically 750 mg, but the usual daily dose for this strength is 500 mg. Not recommended for children under 18 years for general use.
Contraindications
Do not use if there is a known history of severe allergic reactions to this class of medication or any of its components. This product is restricted for individuals with a history of tendon disorders related to similar agents, epilepsy, or other central nervous system disorders that lower the seizure threshold. It is also not for use in women during pregnancy or while nursing, or those under 18 years of age for general use.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Use is contraindicated during pregnancy and in mothers who are breastfeeding due to potential risk.
Special Precautions
- Stop use immediately if you experience pain, swelling, or inflammation in any tendon, and rest the affected area.
- Exercise caution in individuals with known or suspected nervous system disorders, severe kidney impairment, or myasthenia gravis, as the substance may worsen muscle weakness.
- Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight and tanning beds, as this product can increase skin sensitivity to light.
- Maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment to reduce risk of crystal formation.
Is it safe to take it with other medications?
Absorption is significantly reduced by preparations containing iron salts or antacids with magnesium or aluminum. These should not be consumed 2 hours before or after taking the product. Caution is necessary when taken with medications that prolong the QT interval or certain blood thinners.

Store the product at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect it from light and moisture to maintain its efficacy.
